Sgt. J Tavera
Injured in Iraq on March 12, 2008 when the vehicle he was in was hit by a RPG. There were 5 occupants and only 2 survived, with Sgt. Tavera being one of the 2. He has lost his eye sight, the lower right leg, suffered over 80% burns on his body and a fractured skull.
He was honored in a ceremony at MacDill AFB on June 20, 2009. Among the many awards he received were: The Purple Heart, The Bronze Star, Combat Action Medal , and St. Christopher.
Per his father, as of today, a year after his initial injuries, he's in good spirits and has his faith to hold onto.
June 19, 2009: Volunteers for Veteran Love visited the many wounded service members at the Tampa VA. The James A Haley VA Hospital is home to many traumatically injured war veterans. They are proud of the care each and every injured service member receives while they are a patient of this facility.
 
      
Veteran Love has co–sponsored a Job fair on May 15th, 2007 in conjunction with South Command in Miami, FL. Veterans seeking employment come ready with resume in hand to meet over 60 potential employers.
